Our Story

Basic Research

In 1981, Marco Zambolin, SINTRA’s founder and current CEO, registered the first patent that would later become: MIX-IND® Technology. The idea was born from the analysis of stratification and uneven air distribution problems in a 60 foot high 100,000+ ft2 PIRELLI factory in Italy. It marks the beginning of the BASIC RESEARCH period and the birth of perforated channels.

Applied Research

During this period, a database was being established with real values gathered from numerous applications and experiences in the field.
This database enabled the creation of a mathematic model that would guarantee results even on the most challenging installations in terms of temperature homogeneity and residual speed control.

Technology Development

In 1995, SINTRA company was created with a production facility near Milan, Italy and a liaison office in France. MIX-IND® Technology found early success in large industrial settings. Technology applications slowly expanded to almost all industry sectors. Over time SINTRA gained additional knowledge in all types of large volume spaces as well as small spaces with unique challenges.

Growth and Expansion

Beginning in 2012, SINTRA entered a phase of exponential growth, driven by the expansion of our patented MIX-IND® technology and the launch of next-generation air distribution patents. This period includes the widespread adoption of micro-perforated solutions in the European market by other manufacturers. To support growing interest and adoption, Sintra opened a Net-Zero training and test center in 2021. Welcoming owners, design professionals, distributors and contractors to experience Sintra technologies first. This facility is currently in use providing hands-on demonstrations, factory training and facility tours.
